TOFA - Tresor Club Wandmaler 
Seit nunmehr über einem Jahr ist Tofa im Tresor verantwortlich für die Wandgestaltung, was die Besucher nicht nur monatlich auf den Flyern zu sehen bekommen, sondern im Club auch kontinuierlich mitverfolgen können. Wir nehmen das kleine Jubiläum als Anlass für das folgende Interview, denn schon viele wollten wissen, von wem die ganzen Bilder eigentlich kommen…
Tofa *1974, Berlin Job: Tresor Club - Artworks United by Carlsberg Wie kam es zur Zusammenarbeit mit dem Tresor? Im Mai 2007 kam ich zusammen mit Nomad und Superblast auf die Baustelle und bei so vielen Wänden war klar, dass das Projekt nicht mal eben schnell in einem Monat zu bewältigen ist. Letzenendes bin ich übriggeblieben, weil ich genügend langen Atem hatte und an das Projekt geglaubt habe und natürlich auch ne Menge Zeit in die Designs gesteckt habe. Irgendwann kam dann zum Glück Carlsberg als Kooperationspartner ins Spiel und meine Investition an Zeit hat sich gelohnt. Also lebst Du ausschließlich davon? Nein - nicht nur. Ich nenne es angewandtes Multitasking - vom Malen über Motiongraphics, bis zur Fotografie mischt sich das bei mir zu einer Einheit. Und wie lange malst Du schon? Mit Writing habe ich 1996 angefangen. Mein Interesse an Buchstaben, Charactern und Farbkombinationen versuche sich seitdem stetig zu vertiefen. Woher nimmst Du die Inspiration für Deine Bilder? Die Wände im Club sprechen eine eigene Sprache und inspirieren. Ich mag den rauen Beton im Tresor und versuche auch, das in den Bildern aufzugreifen. Was ist denn Dein Lieblingsbild im Club? Wenn Du unten im Tresor an der Wand beim Dancefloor stehst, musst Du mal genau hinschauen - da ist diese lange rostig-triefende Wand mit einem grossen ABC-Baum neben dem kleinen grünen Affen - die Verzweigung aus drei ABCs, die so aussehen, als wären sie schon immer dagewesen. TOFA - Tresor Club Wandmaler
For over a year now Tofa has been active and responsible for the presentation and art design on the walls of Tresor Club, an ever-changing development of works that are also seen on the monthly club flyers. To celebrate a year's worth of very cool urban art in our club and to answer the many inquiries we receive about the artwork, we met up with him for a short interview with the man behind the oeuvres…
Tofa *1974, Berlin Job: Tresor Club - Artworks United by Carlsberg How did the cooperation with Tresor come about? In May 2007 I met Nomad and Superblast on the Tresor Club construction/renovation site and when I saw so many blank walls it was clear that it wasn't going to be possible to implement designs for all of them in one month. In the long run I remained well after the opening because I had enough patience and believed in the project. And of course the long amount of time invested was a strong factor. At some point Carlsberg luckily joined the team as a partner and so my time investment paid off. Do you make your living exclusively from this work? No - not exclusively. I call it multi-tasking: from painting to motion graphics or photography, it all creates a uniform identity for me. And how long have you been painting? I started off in 1996 with "writing". Since then I have tried to continually deepen my interest in letters, characters and colour combinations. Where do you get the inspiration for your paintings? The walls in the club speak their own language and this inspires. I like the raw concrete in Tresor and try to adapt to it in my works. What is your favourite painting in the club? When you are standing downstairs in the Tresor area, you have to look carefully on the wall next to the dance floor: there is this long, rusty-moist wall with a large ABC tree next to a little green monkey. The branching out from the 3 ABC's looks as if has always been there. And what next? Mulitmedia paintings - I can't yet divulge more about that but here's already a little preview!
